He is so cute! We need to get Maddie a new car seat too, since hers only goes up to 40 inches and she is at 38 inches right now. Does the one you got Joshua convert into a booster? Those are the ones I am looking at.
Amy - Yeah, Joshua is really tall too. I'm not sure where he is now, but he was almost 38 inches in January. We've been needing a new car seat for awhile =P
Technically it already is a booster seat. You can adjust it as the child grows. The head rest rises up (pretty high, I might add--it's currently at the lowest setting) and you can remove the 5-point harness and instead use a regular shoulder strap seatbelt. I believe you can use it with a regular seatbelt from 40-100 lbs, actually.
We got it from walmart.com for $99. You can read about it at the manufacturer's website here: http://www.safety1st.com/usa/eng/Products/Travel/Car-Seats/Details/1801-22535MIL-Apex-65-Booster-Car-Seat. So far, so good! I recommend it!
Shara- Yeah, he does have long legs. Look where he comes from =P
I believe car seat laws vary according to state. In Utah, children need a booster seat until age 8 or they are at least 57 inches tall. Looks like in North Carolina it's age 8 or 80 pounds, whichever comes first. I think this one should cover Joshua until he reaches that point--or at least I hope it does! =)
If I remember, the law in California is age 5 or 50 lbs, whichever is later. But I've never had kids so I don't really know =P Super cute, by the way! He looks totally stylin', what with his hand up, that cheesy smile, his milk resting on his knee, and no pants on =P
He's sooo long and lanky! But it looks like he appreciates the seat. Glad you got it. Wow--new bed, new car seat, growing like a weed! I love the smile. He does adore his milk.........
"Playing footsies with mommy, oh yeah!" (ask us if you want the context here)
"Here, Mommy, let me help you get up, because you don't know how to get up with a baby in your tummy."
Joshua: "Mommy, I love you." Mommy: "I love you, too, son." Joshua: "ANGRY BIRDS!!!!"
(After falling off a swing at the park, he starts whimpering) Mommy: "Come here, Joshua, and tell me the story." Joshua: *climbs up on my lap, then sniffles* "Um, once upon a time, I was on the swing..."
"I gotta tell ya somethin'."
"I'm doing the I love you sign! I'm still doing it! I'm still doing it!" (which he shouts as we exit his room at bedtime)
Mommy: "Is London (girl at daycare) your girlfriend?" Joshua: "Yes, and Nicky (boy at daycare) is my boyfriend."
Mommy: "Do you know who is coming over tomorrow?" Joshua: "Yes, I do!" Mommy: "Who?" Joshua: "What?" Mommy: "You just said you know who is coming over. Who is it?" Joshua: "I don't know."
Mommy: "It's a party!" (because my sister and brother-in-law were in the car with us when I picked Joshua up from daycare) Joshua: (looking out the window) "Aww, I missed it!"
"Mommy, the sun is coming up to say hello to me!"
Grandma says: "I love you, Joshua." Joshua responds: "No, you don't! Mommy and Daddy love me!"
"Mommy, can my pet watch TV?" (referring to a large smiley-faced metallic balloon)
Grandma says: "Talk about your mixed metaphors!" Joshua says: "Not my mixed bananaphores!"
